Our Industry.

'Backpacking' is a generic term used to describe free independent travelers who stay in hostels for at least part of their Australian experience.

Australia has one of the worlds most highly developed budget and backpacker infrastructures in the world. The Bakpak Group has been there since its infancy and would today easily be the largest provider of services to the Australian industry.

The Backpacking sector of the economy generates over $1.5 billion per annum in export earnings for Australians.

The Industry is obviously also doing a good job as:

  • Backpackers have a higher satisfaction level than any other sector of visitors.
  • They also have the highest intent of returns.

On an annual basis backpackers number over 350,000 and stay for an average of 195 days. And while the Bakpak Group operations offer a wide variety of styles of accommodation in Australia's major states, we understand and fully cater for the backpacking ethic of 'Work, Rest and Play'.

With our numerous hostels providing for the 'Rest' aspect; 'Play' time could be any number of activities - from local sight-seeing tours, special events (The Melbourne Cup Day At The Races or The Sydney Harbour Christmas Cruise) to full party mode on Coconuts on Magnetic Island, with the Full Moon Parties, or at The Roo Bar in Melbourne. In terms of 'Work', we have direct line contacts with a number of employment agencies, some of which are located in our hostels.

Our Operations.

Encompassing Melbourne, Sydney & Queensland, The Bakpak Group provides a unique holistic approach to budget travel, whereby every facet of the Australian experience is obtainable.

The locations of our properties enable us to attract differing genres of independent travelers. Guests can choose to stay in larger city central backpackers hotels or smaller hostels defined by their unique surroundings and facilities.
